For their grand opening on September 13th, 2013, Illuminati Tattoo Lounge (Orange, CA) offered a special $13 flash art sale which allowed new and existing clients the chance to inked for only $20 ($13 tattoo + $7 good luck tip). The special drew a steady crowd from 9am, until the shop closed it’s doors at midnight. Overall, over 200 people came through the doors to get tattooed by some of the finest artists in Southern California. Shop founder, Rafa Barragan, said the popular event has already brought a tremendous amount of attention to the relatively new tattoo shop in the heart of Orange County. “The $13 tattoo special is a great way for new clients to see what the lounge is all about, and meet the artists that call the shop home,” said Rafa. “The majority of our first time customers end up turning into repeat clients, so it’s all about exposing new people to the concept of a tattoo lounge.”
The $13 Friday the 13th flash special will run all day December 13, 2013, from 9am until Midnight. Due to the overwhelming response from Southern California tattoo collectors, Illuminati Tattoo Lounge recommends you arrive early, and of course, bring a friend.

Starting Mid-November 2013, Illuminati Tattoo Lounge (Orange, CA) will be offering walk-in tattoo sessions every Wednesday during normal business hours. Clients, both new and existing, will have access to all of the lounge’s talented tattoo artists with no appointment needed. Shop founder, Rafa Baragan, launched the promotion in an effort to help expose new clients to the award winning artists that call the lounge home. “We have so many talented artists, each with their own unique skill set,” said Baragan. By opening the entire shop up exclusively to walk-in tattoo sessions, Rafa hopes to bring new clients into the Illuminati Tattoo family on a regular basis. “Not everyone wants an entire back piece that takes 10-hours and this is the perfect opportunity for new clients to come in, discuss ideas, and see the talent at the shop.”
The promotion, which will run indefinitely, is the latest special offered by the Orange County, CA tattoo shop. Their $13 Friday the 13th tattoos drew such a crowd in September, that the line stretched around the building for most of the day. For those interested, Rafa plans on offering the Friday the 13th tattoo flash special again in December 2013. Clients can choose from flash art each artist has on-hand, for the incredibly low price of $13 ($20 really… $13 for the tattoo plus a $7 tip for good luck).

The results are in, and Illuminati Tattoo Lounge has been voted one of the best places to get tattooed in Orange County, CA. Every year, CityVoter.com and Orange County Hotlist compile a “best of” list in various categories which users then vote on. After having their doors open for just 2-months, Illuminati Tattoo managed to grab the 3rd place slot and solidify themselves as Orange County’s premier tattoo studio/lounge.
“Our strong finish in the voting shows our commitment to quality, custom tattooing. At Illuminati Tattoo, we are always about quality over quantity,” said Rafa Barragan, shop founder. “The artists that call the lounge home love being challenged and work directly with clients to create truly custom works of art… there’s nothing “cookie cutter” about what we do.”
Rafa prides himself on having created an environment where both artists and clients can thrive, offering an open floor-plan with colorful walls and plenty of artwork on display. As soon as you walk in the door, you’ll notice this isn’t your typical tattoo shop with overpowering fluorescent lights, white walls, and the same old boring flash on the walls. The shop interior is done in cool blue tones, with wood flooring and a comfortable sitting area. Multiple television monitors fill the lounge, playing anything from NFL action to classic movies. On a regular basis, the lounge closes it’s doors early and hosts local art fusion nights, where local tattooers, artists and designers can get together and collaborate on new ideas and pieces.
Rafa has succeeded in not only opening Orange County’s newest tattoo studio, but rather a tattoo art collective where tattoo collectors and artists alike, can come together to push the envelope in the world of body art.
It’s almost Halloween time, which means you’ll be seeing lots of horror related tattoo galleries, with movie characters taking center stage. Since it’s original release back in 1993, no other Halloween movie has received as much fanfare as Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” The movie follows Jack Skellington (The Pumpkin King) as he discovers a portal to “Christmas Town.” Impressed by the Christmas holiday, Jack sets out to transform Halloween Town into a Christmas wonderland with the help of the town citizens.
The fantastic imagery Tim Burton provides crosses over to the world of tattoos nicely, with full color pieces taking center stage. Poplar tattoos include scenes with main characters such as Sally, Oogie Boogie, Lock, Shock and Barrel, and of course Jack Skellington. Illuminati Tattoo Lounge founder, Rafa Barragan, has been working on this masterpiece-in-progress and is 4-hours in so far. You’ll want to stay posted for the updates as this project progresses, so please bookmark, share, and stay posted. Click each image for a larger picture. The Rolling Stones might just be the most well known band in the world. Formed in England in 1962, The Rolling Stones took the United States by storm in the 1960’s and 70’s and were an essential part of the counterculture movement. One of the more outspoken members of the band was/is guitarist Keith Richards, who gained notoriety for illicit drug use and his candour about using heroin and other substances. Most recently, Keith Richards was voted the #4 guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. Keith Richards is seemingly larger than life… In an April 2007 interview for NME magazine, music journalist Mark Beaumont asked Richards what the strangest thing he ever snorted was, and quoted him as saying: “My father. I snorted my father. He was cremated and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn’t have cared … It went down pretty well, and I’m still alive.”
Rolling Stones fans should check out the amazing detail that went into this black and grey portrait tattoo by Juan Zarate, of Illuminati Tattoo Lounge in Orange, CA.
